POSITION OVERVIEW
McCleary School District is seeking a principal who inspires staff to work with each other, families and students to ensure each student has the access and opportunity to thrive academically, behaviorally, and socially-emotionally through integrated efforts. As McCleary School Principal, you will have the responsibility and opportunity to have a positive impact on students and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Sustain and support the district's mission, vision, strategic plan, and improvement initiatives.
Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful school culture where students feel safe, connected, valued, and supported and staff and students can continuously learn in a climate characterized by trust, collaboration, accountability, high expectations and positive relationships.
Promote shared leadership, collaborative decision-making, and recognition of accomplishments.
Support effective instructional practices, curriculum, assessment, and intervention strategies that promote student achievement and growth.
Supervise staff, provide ongoing meaningful feedback, and complete evaluations to support professional growth and accountability.
Use data to monitor student learning, guide decision-making, and facilitate aligned professional learning.
Lead implementation and continuous improvement of MTSS, including academic, behavioral (PBIS), attendance, and social-emotional supports.
Establish and adjust school-wide schedules to support student learning, staff collaboration, and efficient school operations.
Ensure systems identify and support students needing additional services, coordinate interventions, and monitor progress.
Provide leadership for special education services and inclusive practices ensuring access to grade-level instruction and appropriate services.
Support IEP processes and lead continued implementation of the Intensive Learning Support classroom.
Oversee and continuously improve school-wide behavior systems, student conduct processes, and restorative practices that support a positive learning environment for elementary and middle school students.
Oversee school safety planning, emergency preparedness, and crisis response procedures.
Communicate effectively regarding student safety and well-being.
Build strong relationships with families and community partners, communicate regularly, and promote engagement and public trust.
Select, supervise, support, develop, and evaluate staff in alignment with district policies and agreements.
Ensure a collaborative professional culture through coaching, mentoring, PLCs, and continuous improvement.
Address performance concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Lead School Improvement Plan development, implementation, and monitoring using data.
Manage fiscal, human, and material resources; support budgeting, grants, and resource allocation.
Ensure compliance with policies and regulations and manage daily school operations for a safe, effective learning environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge: Instructional practices, MTSS (including PBIS), special education, school finance, school safety, federal and state laws, staff supervision.
Skills: Instructional leadership, data-informed decision-making, communication, collaboration, conflict resolution, consensus building, family engagement, prioritization.
Abilities: Guide and monitor systems supporting student success, encourage trust and collaboration, lead problem-solving, support staff growth, allocate resources strategically, maintain professionalism and sound judgment.
Requirements
- Valid Washington State Principal Certification (or ability to obtain).
- Criminal Justice fingerprint/background clearance.
- Washington State Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Release.
- Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or related field.
- Successful teaching and leadership experience preferred.
- Experience with instructional leadership, MTSS, special education, and school improvement preferred.
