Description
The Summer Youth Internship Program (SYIP) component of EARN & LEARN is a specialized work opportunity where youth are assigned to various work assignments within City of Milwaukee government. SYIP interns receive a wage of $16.00 per hour and work 20 hours weekly over the course of eight weeks in the summer.
SYIP Interns are placed in various City of Milwaukee departments, such as the Department of Public Works, Assessor's Office, Milwaukee Public Library, Mayor’s Office, Police Department, Housing Authority, etc. The types of intern positions with SYIP vary by year and have included the following industry clusters: Financial Services, Public Service & Safety, Digital Technology, Management & Entrepreneurship, Construction, Energy & Natural Resources, Supply Chain & Transportation, and Education.
Requirements
Youth must be between age 16 (as of June 17, 2026) to 19 years old.
Applicants must live in the City of Milwaukee.
