The Senior HR Generalist operates from Chenega’s Anchorage office, providing Human Resources support for the corporate staff and contributing to the implementation of Chenega’s comprehensive HR strategic plan throughout its business units. Key responsibilities include recruitment, employee relations, onboarding, FMLA/ADA administration, ensuring compliance, and communicating HR policies.

Requirements
- Perform recruitment activities for Chenega Corporation to include:
- Posting jobs
- Communicating with candidates
- Actively recruiting for positions
- Screening applicants
- Drafting interview questions
- Setting up and attending interviews
- Drafting offers that align with state requirements
- Perform onboarding activities for new hires to include:
- Launch onboarding in HRIS system
- Set-up first day orientations with relevant departments
- Facilitate HR orientation
- Perform building and safety orientations
- Assist in drafting/updating job descriptions
- Assist with employee relations and performance management
- Assist with in-house training programs
- Provide support and information on protected leave programs such as FMLA, ADA, PWFA
- Assist in maintaining HR’s SharePoint page
- Assist with maintaining the compensation program
- Serve as back up to the Sr. Human Resources Specialist and Sr. HR systems Manager:
- Enter employee changes into CostPoint system timely and accurately
- Understand HR’s companywide HR systems and vendors, serve as point of contact for administration and vendor needs
- Perform and/or participate in special projects as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Intermediate knowledge of general human resources, best practices, procedures, and regulations.
- Familiarity with the government contract environments and Service Contract Act.
- Intermediate HRIS skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff, affiliated-company employees as well as outside business associates; exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others.
- Intermediate administrative skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines amid changing priorities in a highly dynamic environment.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and industry-standard computer software and databases. Excel knowledge should include the ability to develop ad hoc reports using formulas and look-up tables. Prior experience with Deltek Cost Point financial management system is preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including thorough knowledge of proper grammar, advanced vocabulary, spelling, editing and proofreading skills.
- Ability to stay current and communicate changes and developments in local, state and federal laws and regulations regarding employment regulations.
- Ability to research and analyze complex and technical issues.
- Ability to make decisions, solve problems and exercise excellent judgment.
- Superior organizational, follow-up and detail-oriented skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field; or two additional years of human resources administration as a substitute for degree.
- Three more years’ progressively responsible work experience that illustrates human resources experience in at least two of the following areas: recruitment, employee relations, training, performance management, ADA/FMLA, or HRIS.
- Experience working for a for-profit corporation strongly preferred.
- Experience working for an Alaska Native Corporation strongly preferred.
- PHR/SHRM-CP strongly preferred.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
