Lone Star College offers high-quality, low-cost academic transfer and career training education to 80,000+ students each semester. LSC has been named a 2023 Great Colleges to Work For institution by the Chronicle of Higher Education.
LSC consists of eight colleges, seven centers, eight Workforce Centers of Excellence and Lone Star Corporate College.
The Atascocita Center, a satellite center of LSC-Kingwood. The Center provides a variety of services to students including registration, advising, placement testing, and a diverse assortment of course offerings, tutoring, and library services.

Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide the learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of the course objectives and contribute tot he educational environment of the college and the community. The faculty member's role encompasses the general areas of learning facilitation, professional development, and institutional service. Primary responsibilities are to plan, develop and teach courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Teaches courses in Early Childhood Education & Teaching for the Bachelor's program at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional needs
- Makes continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods
- Develops and utilizes a syllabus for each course or laboratory within college and departmental guidelines
- Plans, develops, and uses a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course objectives, and which are appropriate for students with different educational and experiential backgrounds and learning needs
- Evaluates students by a variety of means to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform them in a timely manner of their progress in the course
- Submits required college reports and forms in a timely manner
- Reviews, evaluates, and recommends student-learning materials
- Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
- Responsible for professional development and institutional service as determined in consultation with the Executive Director
- Provides access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods
- Interacts with other faculty; communicates with students outside of the classroom
- Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The work is sedentary. Typically, the faculty sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
- Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment, as well as medical equipment that is standard within the industry
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled classroom and/or lab with exposure to safety hazards typical within the medical industry
- Schedule will vary depending on class times. Faculty are required to meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction as needed
- There is required time outside in the environment. Both with students and during maintenance. These times may be during all seasons and all times of the day and night
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree or higher in Education or a closely related field, such as Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Interdisciplinary Studies, Curriculum and Instruction, Reading/Literacy, Special Education, Educational Leadership, Child Development, Educational Psychology, Instructional Design, or a related discipline, OR a master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in education or an education-related field aligned to the course content. AND
- Minimum of three (3) years of PK'12 teaching or instructional experience in early childhood, elementary, special education, literacy, or related educational settings.
Salary
Commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
