Associated Oregon Loggers (AOL) and it’s four organizations, are seeking a dynamic Executive Vice President to lead its team of 15 professionals to deliver service and voice for Oregon’s forest contracting sector.

Associated Oregon Loggers (AOL) in Salem, Oregon is seeking an Executive Vice President to serve as our chief executive officer who will lead this statewide association—providing business programs, insurance services, and advocacy for Oregon’s forest contracting sector. This is your opportunity to guide four affiliated organizations: a respected nonprofit trade association; a health trust; a private foundation; and a for-profit subsidiary corporation—driving strategy and benefit value for nearly 1,000 member businesses. About Us
“A trusted partner for Oregon’s forest operators,” ‘AOL’ is the brand name for the family of entities that comprise the statewide trade association providing service and voice for Oregon’s logging and affiliated forest operations sector.
For 57 years, AOL has been the trusted voice for nearly 1,000 small business forest contract operator members statewide. We champion advocacy, deliver business programs, offer insurance services, and foster independent contracting success. AOL Services, Inc. is a for-profit corporation and workers’ compensation insurance agency that serves membership with valuable support and products. AOL Health Benefits Trust administers an Association Health Plan, providing members with health insurance benefits. Friends of Paul Bunyan Foundation is a private foundation, which grants funds to projects that advance forest operations career development and education. A team of 15 professionals are dedicated to our mission of enhancing success of loggers and forest operation businesses. Members are loggers, truckers, road construction firms, forest firefighters, reforesters, thinners, hazard mitigators, tree services, suppliers, and allied forest associates.
What You’ll Do
Shape Strategy: Partner with boards, staff, coalitions, affiliates, policymakers, and contracted resources to set vision and execute long- and short-term plans.
Drive Governance: Support four boards and seven committees, guide member-driven programs, and foster transparent decision-making.
Lead Finance: Fiduciary to oversee budgeting, investments, audits, and fiscal responsibilities to maintain financial health.
Build Teams: Manage human resources for 15 staff—recruit, develop, and inspire a high-performing culture of customer service.
Advocate & Influence: Represent the forest contract operations sector in policy voice, lead lobbying efforts, cultivate coalition partnerships, and serve as spokesperson.
Grow Membership: Drive membership retention and recruitment through customer service, program innovation, benefit value, partnerships, marketing, and recognition.
Deliver Member Value: Continuous improvement of new or improved member benefit programs.
Optimize Group Income: Ensure quality, efficacy and profitability of group income programs.
Direct Communications: Oversee good communication among members, partners, and teams.
Manage Organizations: Lead the association’s four entities with confidence in a fast-paced arena.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in business, public policy, forestry, or related field (Master’s preferred).
12+ years progressive leadership experience, with 6+ years in supervision or executive management.
Experience with non-profit board governance or trade associations is preferred.
Experience with advocacy, government affairs, or public policymaking is preferred.
Experience with small business or trades contracting is preferred.
Experience with western forest management and forest sector business is preferred.
Strong communication with effective writing, presentation, and public speaking skills.
Strong financial acumen, fiduciary knowledge, and budgeting skills.
Strong strategic thinking, vision, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
Ability to become proficient with small business insurance and employer regulation.
Demonstrated team leadership for personnel management and motivation.
Previous collaborating success within diverse people, businesses, coalitions, and interests.
Demonstrated integrity and initiative qualities.
Commitment to invest time or travel to meet stakeholders when and where they are.

Compensation
Competitive salary commensurate with experience.

Location & Travel
-- Headquarters office in Salem, Oregon, with travel statewide and regionally.
-- Frequent interface and collaboration with members, allied associations, coalitions, industry business, partners, vendors, policymakers, and government agencies.
-- Remote work up to 20 percent of time, with preference for in-person business, member, team, or headquarters interaction.
