ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Duties will include the operation and maintenance of the C7 Video Tracker Data Reduction System. Other duties will require the ability to modify and install computer program changes to meet mission requirements, work with engineering during system modifications, and have a thorough knowledge of computer utilization. Additional duties may be assigned to support contract/mission support requirements in job related areas such as PIPR, Security and Safety, TMDE, HAZMAT, etc. as required. Will be used through cross-utilization to support other systems in the Mission Support Department as required.
GENERAL DUTIES:
- The Electronics Technician, Maintenance II maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, modifies and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, television, telecommunication, sonar, laser, electro-optics, infrared, telemetry, and communications systems, and navigational aids); personal and main frame computers and terminals, industrial, medical, measuring, and controlling equipment; and industrial robotic devices.
- The successful incumbent applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions, and applies skill in restoring equipment operation, evaluates performance and reliability of prototype or production mode, and recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
- Must be qualified to operate; maintain; repair; and modify complex state-of-the-art electronic, electro-optical and electro-mechanical equipment.
- Must be systems oriented and have the ability and knowledge to consolidate component sub-systems and assemblies into a workable system.
- This position reports to the Site Supervisor and will be required to perform electronic circuit analysis and mathematical calculations typically encountered in the fabrication, maintenance, modification, and repair of electronic systems.
- Must be qualified to operate; maintain; repair; and modify complex state-of-the-art electronic, electro-optical, and electro-mechanical equipment.
- Must be able to walk steps and work in high areas.
- Tracker towers are outside and up to 50' off the ground.
- This position performs operations and maintenance of the C7 Video Tracker Data Reduction System and assists with the C7 Frame Room Video Distribution System used to support Eglin, AFB test missions and to accomplish maintenance and mission support objectives, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of assigned systems/equipment at Test Site C-7, on Range C-72 at Eglin, AFB.
- Required to operate a C7 Video Tracker.
Job Requirements:
OTHER DUTIES: Other functions include assisting in the orientation and training of other technicians at this level when directed by the supervisor. May be assigned additional responsibilities to oversee lower level technicians. Will perform general housekeeping and other job related tasks of a non-technical nature such as cleaning the interior and exterior of vehicles and support vans, corrosion control, painting, lawn care, and others. May be required to handle hazardous material/hazardous waste.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be a technical or service school graduate and have 2 years' experience as an Electronic Technician. Thorough knowledge of electronic troubleshooting, repair, installation, and operation of the C7 Video Tracker Data Reduction System and associated equipment is Highly Desirable. Must have thorough knowledge of components and system characteristics to enable the selection of replacement parts to maintain remote systems, encoders, power source, computer controls. Working knowledge of camera configurations is a plus. Requires manual dexterity necessary to perform repairs and modifications to small assemblies such as integrated circuit boards. Will be required to coordinate scheduled maintenance, task requirements, and assist engineering with the development and design of operational improvements. Knowledge of computer operations and ability to utilize specialized software to accomplish mission's data acquisition is required. Knowledge of the C-7 Fiber Optic configuration is a plus.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement. Must be able to walk steps and work in high areas. Tracker towers are outside and up to 50' off the ground.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: May perform work assignments in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment. Some tasks and assignments such as the installation; operation; and maintenance of mobile systems, aircraft systems, or range instrumentation will require work performance in outside environments in heat or cold with exposure to the conditions typical of various work locations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Required to climb, bend, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds, pull, or carry heavy items.
