| Scope of Job | Reporting to the School of Medicine Dean, the Associate Dean/Senior Associate Dean for Student Affairs & Admissions supervises and directs the staff and budget of the programs under the Offices of Student Affairs and Admissions, and is responsible for implementing policies and programming to support medical student academic progress from admissions to graduation: including student academic support, student advising, the learning environment, career development, and student wellness initiatives |
| Description of Duties | Core Duties (Associate Dean/Senior Associate Dean)

| Supervision Received | Reports to the School of Medicine Dean or his/her designee, and the corresponding department chair in faculty role; and works closely with the Associate Dean for Educational Affairs. |
| Supervision Given | Direct supervision of assigned staff. |
| Required Education | Associate Dean: Terminal degree in a related field from an accredited University. |
| Preferred Education | N/A |
| Licenses/Certifications | None. |
| Required Experience | Associate Dean/Senior Associate Dean: Six (6) years of related increasingly responsible professional experience. |
| Preferred Experience | Senior Associate Dean: Experience in undergraduate medical education with at least five years in an education administration role. |
| Equipment | Use of standard office equipment. |
| Working Conditions | Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. |
